On the Road Again! |
Despite what seemed
like a year of continuous travel, Scott's way behind on frequent
flyer miles on United. He made a quick (12
days) trip to Singapore and Thailand, see a few old buds, and
enjoy humid, 90 degree weather. This trip put him over the million
mile (that's actual miles flown, not frequent flyer points)
— on United Airlines. For this he'll get "mid-tier" ("Premier
Executive") status on United for life (although with United's
current financial woes, it isn't clear whether its for his life or
theirs...). A highlight of the trip was a one-day Thai cooking class,
and meeting up with Australians Ann(e) and Bernard. Completed. |

Four days in idyllic Keene,
NY (find Montreal, look south). It's just 4.5 hours away but a whole
different world. |

Cozumel It's
on Scott's SCUBA pilgrimage sites, but he managed to break
his collarbone again in a recent bicycling accident.
So Scott's looking for a alternative that doesn't require wearing
50lbs of gear to enjoy it.
Update October 29: Finally made it. Great diving,
many people escaping cold climates. |

We
almost got jobs. Sort of... we were sucked into taking a break
from retirement. Fortunately, it didn't pan out. We'd gotten onto
the list of Trainers for the Segway™ HT
(Human Transporter) — aka Ginger.
Yes, it is as cool as you thought it might be. We accumulated
about 10 hours each on the HT; ultimately the company chose a less
expensive route to delivering the training, and our involvement seems
to be over. |

Back
in school where he belongs? Scott persues a certificate
in Culinary Arts starting with a "test class".
During Thanksgiving week, Scott's headed out to Vancouver
(BC) to sit in on a full-day class (before commiting
to 4 months and several thousand dollars) |
